Blackwing pencils are iconic. The unusual ferrule (the metal bit that connects the pencil to the eraser) design made the pencils a collectors item when they got discontinued in 1998. Palomino then revived the design in 2010, and have since expanded the line. 

The iconic Blackwing 602 was the pencil of choice for John Steinbeck, Chuck Jones, and countless others before it was discontinued. In 2011, Palomino brought it back. The Blackwing 602 features a firm and smooth graphite core that helps it deliver on its promise of “Half the Pressure, Twice the Speed,” a gunmetal grey finish and iconic square Blackwing ferrule with a pink eraser.

The Best Pencil in the World?

I‘ve long read about the legendary Blackwing pencils, but a visit to Forest Hill was my first opportunity to try. Sold on them in an instant - makes a good mark with the minimum of pressure and very quick to write with. I’m traditionally a ‘B’ user so went for the 602 - think I will have to experiment with a ‘Natural’ to maintain the point a little longer. I prefer to sharpen with a knife, which is very therapeutic… but also a bit of a faff!

They are as good as they say

First time user of the blackwing, I have the full collecting, and they are seriously as good as they say they are, I doubt I will be using any other pencil ever again

Black wing pencils

Great pencils that give beautiful mark making . Package arrived quickly , but pencils pretty loose in packing and rattled around . Not great , hopefully leads will be ok .

Well packaged and speedy delivery as 2nd class

As I asked for, these pencils were competitively priced. They were nicely packaged and delivered in a timely, second class way. (The pencils sharpen well and don’t seem to snap at the points, btw).
